Yearly Service, Fun, and Community

Wondering what it's actually like to be a Rotarian? Here's a look at five of our major annual events, each one a different way we show up for Pinellas Park and for each other. These are just the highlights: throughout the year, our members are also involved in many other ongoing projects and one-time opportunities to serve the community.

October: Halloween Treat Trail
Held at England Brothers Park as part of the City of Pinellas Park's annual celebration, this is one of our purely joyful gatherings. Hundreds of costumed children (and their parents) come through, and our members hand out treats in costume ourselves. There's no fundraising angle here; it's simply our gift to the community, and a chance for the adults in the room to remember how fun it is to play.

December: Christmas Baskets
Every December, our members prepare and personally deliver baskets of food and gifts to local families in need. It's hands-on, it's personal, and for many members it's the project that best captures why we joined Rotary in the first place.

December: Christmas Parade
We build a float, load it with members, and walk it through Pinellas Park's Christmas Parade, passing out souvenirs and treats along the route. It's festive and it's fun, but it also does real work for the club: it puts a visible, active face on Rotary in our community, reminding neighbors that we're here and engaged year-round.

March: Country in the Park
Our biggest annual fundraiser that’s tied to a public event, Country in the Park is produced by the City of Pinellas Park and draws a big music-loving crowd. Our club runs a large grill, serving bratwurst and chips, and by most accounts, we serve the best food at the event. We regularly sell out.

March: Bowl-A-Thon
This is the club's major fundraiser of the year, hosted at Seminole Lanes with electronic scoring in an impeccably clean, well-run facility. Hundreds of bowlers compete in teams, and the funds raised help us support dozens of local service organizations as well as our own club projects. It's been a community favorite for many years, and is a great example of how much impact a well-organized, well-loved event can generate.
